Our Redevelopment Planning

The Multistate Environmental Response Trust (Multistate Trust) accepted responsibility for remediating the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp – Soda Springs Plant Superfund Site (the Site). The Multistate Trust is also responsible for positioning the ±547-acre property for safe, beneficial reuse.

Creating a Safe, Productive and Community-Supported Future

The Multistate Trust encourages community members and other interested stakeholders to be involved in helping to identify future reuse alternatives for the Site. If you want to help make recommendations or you have an interest in Site reuse, please contact Lars Peterson at LP@g-etg.com or (208) 297-6913.

Our Redevelopment Planning Approach

Where possible, the remediation plans for the Site will be adapted to accommodate future reuse.

  • EPA will use reasonably anticipated future land uses to select remediation plans that protect human health and the environment and support possible redevelopment options.

  • The timeframe of remediation is being coordinated with reuse planning.

  • Some of the key attributes of the Site include its size, existing buildings, and access to active rail and high-voltage electricity.

  • The Multistate Trust expects anticipated future land use and existing Site attributes to help market the Site and inform discussions with prospective buyers, owners, or end-users.

  • This redevelopment planning approach will help support decisions about property sale or transfer.

Property Disposition

The transfer, sale or disposition of all or any portion of the Site must be approved by EPA, in consultation with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and IDEQ, as provided in the Tronox bankruptcy settlement documents that govern the Multistate Trust and its activities.
