Involving the Community in Remediation and Reuse Planning
The Multistate Trust – in coordination with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) – is committed to working in partnership with community stakeholders on the remediation and future reuse of the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp – Soda Springs Plant Superfund Site (the Site).
We work in concert with various stakeholders, including people who live and work near the Site, the City of Soda Springs, and community organizations such as the Four County Alliance of Southeast Idaho.
With our beneficiaries, the Multistate Trust is dedicated to:
Sharing information and seeking input from the community as we clean up the Site and facilitate its safe, beneficial reuse; and
Working with the neighborhood, surrounding community, and City of Soda Springs to turn the Site into a community asset.
Local Contracting
The Multistate Trust strives to retain qualified third parties for timely, safe, cost-effective cleanup and to build trust and relationships in communities, while investing in local economies as part of performing our work.
Those who would like to be considered for labor or vendor services may contact Multistate Trust Senior Project Manager Lars Peterson at LP@g-etg.com or (208) 297-6913.
Our Key Stakeholders
Residents of the City of Soda Springs and Caribou County
Residents of the City of Soda Springs and surrounding Caribou County play an important role in our efforts to inform the community of the Site’s environmental investigations, remediation plans, and future reuse.
The Multistate Trust tries to keep the community informed by periodically sharing updates and making presentations to interested local stakeholders.
The City of Soda Springs
The City of Soda Springs is a key stakeholder in the Multistate Trust’s activities at the Site in Soda Springs. The Multistate Trust works with the Mayor and City Council and other government officials and leaders to keep them informed of the Multistate Trust’s plans and progress.
